Introduction
As an organization, it is important to be able to create tasks to assign to different people and visualize deadlines and workflows for maximum productivity. Redmine is a popular free and open source solution to project management and bug tracking that has a multitude of features such as integrated email notifications and per project wikis & forums. As a result, you can have a number of people working on different projects and each of them will have access to the same information — this allows for good communication between team members on individual projects. Stack Harbor has made it easy for you to deploy your own Redmine application using our one-click application stack.
Accessing Your Application
Once your stack is built, you will be able to access your Redmine installation by pointing your browser to your stack’s public IP address. You will be prompted with the default Redmine landing page which will be quite unpopulated. In order to begin creating projects, assigning users to projects, and other administrative tasks, you will first have to login to the administrative interface of Redmine. Click ‘Sign In’ on the top right of the page and login with the following credentials:
Username: admin Password: admin
Once you’re logged in, you will see a few more options available to you at the top of the page, namely, “Administration.” From here you will be able to create projects and assign them to other people. However, our admin user does not have a very secure password, so we will change that first. Click “My Account” on the top right of the page and locate the “Change Password” link in the middle pane. Click the link and follow the instructions to change your admin password to something hard to guess.
Final Words
Congratulations! In just a few clicks you’ve deployed a very effective solution to project management and bug tracking. You can begin creating projects with complex subtasks and dependencies and assigning them to various users in your organization.
